I love going to this beach.  Not because it has the most amazing waves.  Or because it has the softest sand to sit upon. Or even because it has the best weather of the whole island.  I love it because the stone man shouldering the cliff face reminds me of how I feel at times. Like I am crumbling under the weight but I am still expected to remain strong and carry my burdens.  Looking up at that stone man strengthens me, stills the panic in my mind and calms my breathing to the flow of the waves, gently lapping on the shore. I know I can survive another week.

I was 46 years old when I begun this blog, female and married with a house full of cats (7). My past is littered with the impact of events that happened when I was a teen. Two loves of my life have been nursing and studying. I just completed my Master of Arts: Media Studies endorsement. My blog will be about the things I think about, that might be better served being written rather than squirreled away in my mind festering. It is the meanderings of my mind as I seek to define myself and my world.

  1. Love your take. How interesting to bring the impressions you get from the statue into your character`s own life, and what she is dealing with. It`s great she can draw strength and carry her own load, as this statue does.
