Quote Me

Do you have a favorite quote that you return to again and again? What is it, and why does it move you?

I ended up with three quotes in the shared theme of happiness.  The first quote has been prodding my thinking for a week or so since I first read it.  The other two came when I began reading Change Your Life With Accelerated Visualisation by Harold Kamph.  So far a lot of what I have read has resonated to where I am in my life at the moment.

“Happiness is an inside job” – John Powell

I love Powell’s quote.  I keep considering what happiness means to me and how I can achieve it.  I believe the more happiness I find and create within myself the better I am.  I need to stop relying on objects and other people as my sources of happiness.  While they can give me fleeting moments of happiness they are not necessarily sustainable over a long period.

“To be happy is to be content in every moment” – Harold Kamph

Kamph’s simple definition fits in with my desire to live in every moment, move around and settle in, before doing the same in the next one and repeat.  Not dwelling in the past or fearing the arrival of the future.

“Happiness is inner freedom from fear, anger and anxiety” – Harold Kamph

This is one of many sentences from Kamph’s book that is just resonating with me.  I experience a lot of fear, anger and anxiety.  I can see how much of the recent years have been spent spinning between these and not really having the openness or insight to seek happiness from within.  I have been too distracted by external matters battering me internally.

So these are my three favourite quotes at the moment.  I read a lot and that can provide a rich source of quotes that resonate for me.  Ask me this in a week or even a day and another one might be sending me searching for more indepth understanding.  Looking forward to reading the quotes that inspire or even annoy other people.
