A Brand New You, Effective Tomorrow
Tomorrow you get to become anyone in the world that you wish. Who are you? You can choose to be anyone alive today, or someone gone long ago. If you decide to stay “you” share your rationale.
All these wish – like, change – a – situation or who you are prompts just make me contort my thinking as to what happens to the other people potentially involved. If I swap places with someone what happens to them? Do I become the body snatcher of horror stories?
Is there really a “brand new” anything? I remember at University they told me that nothing I write will be new but I might word it differently. Like all information, the basic fact might be the same but what is wrapped around it can alter how those facts are received.
I also think about the role of memory. So, I have this flashy new body of the “anyone” I chose. Do I get their memories and mine? Or are mine removed to have theirs? Where do the dislodged memories go? Can other people tell this person in front of them is not quite the same as before?
For me there have been too many new starts. Now I want to work with and not against what I have. It is hard earned and a bit beaten up but its me. That is enough for now. I will build on that rather than try and start from nothing. It should be an interesting change of pace for me.
I just gave this one a title, not realising I left it off originally. The word “brand” is an interesting one because branding ourselves is the new celebrity. Just think of the Kardashian “brand”. It makes me think that the whole idea of a brand new you is a false one. It won’t last because of the effort to retain it or because the next brand is better so requires another change. I would rather put the time into the real me.
