Hope

I hope that I will continue to be able to write poetry

To have my thoughts soar in the sentences I weave

But it is not guaranteed in my quest for a better life

Not simply breathing, but one of quality that I respect

My poetry can be dark, words dredged from my very soul

Etched into my my skin, like cracks racing through concrete

Timeless effigies of memories so long past that cobwebs dwell

A release that can soothe my weary soul, no longer bound inside

It must be called Hope, because who can know what may happen

The meds might damper the usually flowing stream of words

Reducing it to a mere meaningless trickle, random in appearance

Or they might reveal the true font of my creativity, currently shrouded

I often rail against hope, it seems more luck than reality

Absent in that moment of severe need, no lifeline but a taunt

For many it is an absence of doubt, help is coming, they just know

We shall see what it means for me
