A work in progress: Scott

download (6)

i

Scott was a breath of fresh air

In a stuffy academic environment

That made him no less intelligent

It merely demonstrated his humanity

ii

He appreciated academic excellence

But he also recognised conscious effort

Students were respected individuals

Not merely ‘bums on seats’, anonymous

iii

He inspired me to write with my heart

In collaboration with my intellect

To write with intent, interest and authority

But remain true to what I valued

iv

I often think of him since his death

A book in his memory is being edited

A fitting tribute to someone dearly loved

Who taught much through how he lived

Note:

Scott Eastham was a very beloved Media Studies lecturer who was sadly lost to cancer.  He was an incredible man and influenced many students, not just in what he taught but how he chose to teach it and in how he lived his life.  I miss him deeply.

It is a work in progress because I believe I may add to it over time or refine it.

Author:

I was 46 years old when I begun this blog, female and married with a house full of cats (7). My past is littered with the impact of events that happened when I was a teen. Two loves of my life have been nursing and studying. I just completed my Master of Arts: Media Studies endorsement. My blog will be about the things I think about, that might be better served being written rather than squirreled away in my mind festering. It is the meanderings of my mind as I seek to define myself and my world.
